This building was designed to create a unified element for a gateway into the trendy Hayes Valley neighborhood in San Francisco. The building would have been located at the end of the Octavia off-ramp from US-101 and designed to offer a self-contained environment where residents could live, work, and exercise. This unique design incluldes a running track on the roof along with a living roof five stories above the street, where residents would be free from noice and the dust of traffic in a peaceful and natural setting.
Varied levels of planting in and out of the building are featured on different levels. The design allows light to shine through the inside courtyard to allow a calm meeting place inside the building.
